Can I inspect my home using checklist shared by a friend?
Yes, technically you can.
Some items of checklist can be understood by a layperson. Checking for missing screws, scratches on door, broken glasses, does not require any technical expertise.
Where as checking of plumbing fixtures, floor undulations, sliding door installation, electrical provisions etc., require training & experience.
Other items like checking for Latent Dampness, faulty electrical circuit, etc. require advanced technical equipment combined with training to use & interpretation of findings.
The scope of DIY enthusiast in Home inspection is limited, beyond which you need help by a professional.
